To get yourself passionate about what you love. Choose an image or your own photograph that you adore. We at A & K love our animals and landscapes, always taking our own photos for inspiration on what to paint next.
Once you have chosen your image that you would like to paint. Start sketching just like in art school, drawing faint lines with a pencil onto canvas. When you are happy with the proportions and the drawing. Start applying paint, in the light and dark areas.
Fill in each area with colour and create the first base. Usually a wash of colour. You will start to see the painting take shape. Then start adding in the detail. This can go on for ages until you are happy with the amount of detail applied. Use hatching and crosshatching techniques with the paint, large and fine brush strokes for effect.
